GOLF PROGRAM

The Academy’s Golf Program provides high performance training opportunities for talented young athletes in the Western Sydney region. In partnership with Jack Newton Junior Golf (JNJG) the program provides opportunities for pre-elite golfers in the areas of technical skill, education and personal development, preparing athletes for the next level of elite sport representation.

The Program follows the golf curriculum set by JNJG which includes specific skill components, testing and reporting procedures. Together with competition opportunities, this assists athletes to further progress in the golf development pathway.

Duration: October – April

Venues:  Twin Creeks Golf & Country Club and The 19th Hole Driving Range

The Program comprises of technical development, athlete education, sports science, fitness elements and personal development opportunities for Academy scholarship holders. The Program aims to prepare athletes for progression to higher levels of individual performance and achievement, specifically the JNJG State Junior Talent Development Program.

Athletes will also have the opportunity to compete at the Your Local Club Academy Games.

Nominations for the 2023/2024 Golf Program Open: 1 August – 31 August 2024

Program Period: October 2024 – April 2025

 

To be eligible for the Academy 2024/25 Golf Program, athletes must be: 

  • Male and female athletes born between 2007 – 2012
  • Committed to progressing to higher representation within the sport of golf;
  • A current financial member of a Golf Club or Association within the western Sydney region;
  • Currently residing within the Local Government Areas of Blacktown, Blue Mountains, Fairfield, Hawkesbury, Parramatta, Penrith or The Hills.

An athlete levy of $300 is applicable to athletes, which assists in meeting the costs of the Program.

In addition to regular scheduled training sessions, the following benefits will apply to athletes selected within the WSAS Golf Program: 

  • High quality coaching in individual and squad environments.
  • Access to quality training facilities at Twin Creeks Golf & Country Club, the 19th Driving Range, and various courses.
  • Insight into what it takes to become a professional golfer.
  • Access to Academy XPS communication portal;
  • Academy athlete uniform apparel.
  • A foundation in the technical and educational knowledge required to progress to the elite levels of Golf.
  • Opportunity to represent the Academy at various events, attend Academy events and competitions, and nominate for media and partner awards/scholarships
  • Strength and Conditioning support
