TRIATHLON PROGRAM

The Academy’s Triathlon Program provides quality athlete development opportunities for talented young athletes in the western Sydney region. In partnership with Triathlon NSW, the program provides development opportunities for athletes in the areas of technical skill, education and personal development, preparing athletes for the next level of elite sport representation.

The Program includes specific skill and educational components developed by the Academy, Triathlon NSW and the coaching staff. These program elements allow athletes to further progress along the Triathlon NSW development pathway.

PROGRAM BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES

The Academy’s Triathlon Program will provide development opportunities for talented young athletes in the Western Sydney region. In partnership with NSW Triathlon, the program provides opportunities for athletes in the areas of technical skill, education and personal development, preparing athletes for the next level of elite sport representation.

The Triathlon Program will provide opportunities for athletes to receive technical (coaching) support and educational knowledge across key topics such as nutrition, sports integrity, psychology, gratitude and empathy, cyber safety and sports injury management provided by the Academy.

Athletes will also receive personal development opportunities including media and corporate partner exposure, nominations for awards and Local Council events.

PROGRAM BENEFITS

Athletes selected in the Talent Identification and Development Program will receive the following benefits:

High quality coaching endorsed by NSW Triathlon in individual and squad environments;
Insight into what it takes to become a professional athlete;
Access to Academy XPS communication portal;
Academy athlete uniform apparel;
A foundation in the technical and educational knowledge required to progress to the elite levels of Triathlon;
Opportunity to represent the Academy at various events, attend Academy events and competitions, and nominate for media and partner awards/scholarships
Strength and Conditioning support

PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY

Athletes nominating must reside within the Academy’s geographic catchment including the following local Government areas: Blacktown, Blue Mountains, Fairfield, Hawkesbury, Parramatta, Penrith and The Hills Shire.

Male and female athletes born between 2006 – 2013 years of age will be eligible to nominate for selection in the program.

Athletes must have the physical and behavioral attributes necessary to qualify for the NSW Triathlon Emerging Talent Squad within 2-3 years.

An athlete levy of $300 is applicable to athletes, this assists in meeting the costs of the program.
